BIG become the first of two teams to make it through the FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier after defeating HAVU 2-0 on Mirage and Dust2.

BIG turned a slow start in Los Angeles around after an opening match loss to DETONA, a team they knocked out in the best-of-three Group A decider match, by winning one of the two semi-final matches that offer a berth in the inaugural FLASHPOINT season.

HAVU, who came into the tournament as a substitute for SKADE due to the Bulgarian team not being able to secure visas, had a clean slate with wins over Chaos and Copenhagen Flames in Group B, but faltered in the final match.

HAVU took the early lead on BIG’s map pick, going up 3-0 on the CT side. BIG brought it back to 4-4 on the attacking side, setting themselves up for a possible lead at the half, but four kills by Olli "sLowi" Pitkänen kept the Finns ahead. Two rounds in succession gave BIG the lead for the first time, but HAVU turned it back around thanks to several multi-kill rounds by Joonas "doto" Forss to make it 9-6.

HAVU won the second pistol round to hit double digits, but scout doubles by Florian "syrsoN" Rische and Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz threw BIG right back into the game. The German side got within one before HAVU could tally a gun round in the second half thanks to doubles by sLowi and Lasse "ZOREE" Uronen, but the momentum had already shifted and BIG kept a tight hold on defense, regaining the lead and going on to close the first map out giving up but a single round from there on out, 16-12.

BIG put up a wall on Dust2 CT-side to secure the series

The Finnish team made it three for three in pistol rounds on the defending side of Dust2, but were once again traded on the forcebuy as BIG took the 3-1 lead. HAVU brought it back to a tie, but doubles by Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş and tabseN kept BIG in the lead, although the CTs struck back immediately, breaking the Terrorists’ economy and going on a four-round streak. The Finns then closed the half doubling their opponents’ score, 10-5, in a bid to push the series to a decider.

syrsoN took down three players as BIG won a crucial pistol round to stay in the game, cutting distances to 8-10 after winning against the forcebuy and eco. Stopping a long push by HAVU in the first gun round, the German squad further closed the gap, eventually going on to tie the match 10-10. BIG then charged for toward the finish line, taking a 13-10 lead, and although they were momentarily stopped from doing so as HAVU won three rounds, they eventually closed the map out 16-13.
